16 Naxals surrender in Orissa

GAJAPATI - The ongoing anti Naxal operation registered a major success when 16 ultras put their arms before the state police on Saturday in Orissa’s Gajapati District.

Police said that the surrendered ultras are keen to return to the main stream of society.

Briefing about surrender, Gajapti District Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Arora said: “Sixteen people have surrendered before us. They have surrendered saying that they want to return to mainstream.”

According to the police of the 16 Maoists, eight were hardcore ultras from Adaba area of the district.

Authorities opined that surrender policy of the Orissa Government known locally as ‘Ghara Bahuda’ is yielding the desired result. (ANI)
