NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeTimes.com) — Today is 31st December. After a few hours people around the world will be celebrating New Year. Interestingly, Lunar eclipse is also going to take place today.

The Lunar eclipse is partial and will begin at 10.45pm and continue till 2.59am on Friday, the first day of 2010. The eclipse can be seen from naked eye.

The eclipse will be visible throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Eastern Brazil and Australia. But the best place to see it is India. Canada and the USA will also get to see some of this eclipse.

Surprisingly the eclipse is occurring on a full moon day. This eclipse is special because the blue moon will rise on the New Year’s eve.

There are some rituals being followed by some family on an eclipse day. Eating or drinking during eclipse hours are strictly prohibited in those family. So, youths are suspecting that Lunar eclipse might mess up their plans of merry making on New Year eve.
