PESHAWAR - The Taliban blew up five government school buildings in Pakistan’s lawless tribal region near the northwestern city of Peshawar for promoting unIslamic teachings.

The militants blew up the schools in Darra Adam Khel area late on Saturday, Samaa TV quoted the police, as saying.

There were no casualties in the attacks, which militants said were carried out because these schools were imparting “unIslamic teachings”.

Militants have blown up hundreds of schools in Pakistan’s turbulent northwest region bordering Afghanistan in their violent campaign to destabilise the US’ ally in the ongoing war on terror.

In another incident, gunmen attacked two trucks used for supplying fuel to NATO forces in Afghanistan in Pakistan’s southwestern district of Kalar.

According to local officials, there were no casualties in the incident. (ANI)
