Krishna makes it to Kuwait military parade despite being caught in traffic snarl

KUWAIT CITY - Visiting Indian Foreign Minister S.M.Krishna just about made it to a military parade that was organised to celebrate Kuwait’s 50th Independence Day here, after being delayed by a traffic snarl.

The 50th anniversary of independence celebrations lit up the skies of Kuwait with fireworks of joy. It was a spectacle that was both joyful and emotional. The show that was cleverly projected on the Kuwait Towers took us on a quick ride through Kuwait’s history and the visual effects were something that everyone in Kuwait will not forget, the Kuwait Times reports.

According to the daily, the participation of world leaders only showed the bonds of friendship that Kuwait maintains with other countries.

The event included aerial manoeuvres by aerobatic squadron and a line up of military tanks marked the parade, displaying Kuwait’s military power.

During his visit, Krishna met with Mohammad Al-Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister, Canadian Foreign Minister Lawrence Cannon and the Indian community in the oil-rich country, which numbersaround 600,000 at present.

Kuwait is an important trading partner for India and trade between the two countries hovered around 10.5 billion dollars in 2009. (ANI)
