LONDON - Former UK Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has admitted that her husband liked watching porn.

Smith, who was publicly shamed after her husband claimed for blue movies on her expenses, has now made documentary about the porn industry, which involved her posing for photographs outside a sex shop in Soho, London.

And it is clear that she bizarrely still sees herself as a victim of the expenses scandal, as she sought to blame sexism for her exit from politics, reports the Daily Mail.

“I know that it was my expenses people looked at first because I was a woman and should have been at home looking after my husband and children,” claimed the mother of two in an interview about the radio show.

The 48-year-old former teacher also suggested that presenting the documentary ‘Porn Again’ was a ‘very brave’ way for her to tackle the controversy.

However, she also hoped her stint as a presenter would lead to other broadcasting opportunities.

Smith was caught up in the expenses scandal after it emerged that she had claimed for the cost of the two pay-per-view films in early 2009, before the main expenses scandal broke.

Her husband Richard Timney, who was also her parliamentary aide, was forced to admit he had watched them.

The former MP said she made the expenses claim by mistake when she put in the bill for her Sky package.

But the furore, compounded by claims over her main residence, led to her resigning as the first female Home Secretary and taking a backbench position until May, when she lost her seat.

“Some people say to me, ‘Oh well, at least you didn’t have to leave because of a great policy ****-up’, she said in an interview with the latest Radio Times.

“No, it was just a great, big personal ****-up. I’m not sure which is better really,” she added.

Smith said she had always argued with her husband about his habit of watching porn.

“I knew he had used porn. Did he use it very much? No. Having said that, there were two movies on the same week. He has not watched porn since,” she said.

Referring to the expenses claim, she added: “I was more frozen than angry. I just couldn’t believe that we - both of us - had put in this claim. I was the one who did the wrong thing. For claiming it. For not going through the expense form closely enough.’

She also dismissed rumours her husband shouldered the blame for their 17-year-old son.

She will be presenting the documentary on Radio 5 on Thursday. (ANI)
