MELBOURNE - A new study has found that nearly two-thirds of Australians aged 15 and over engage in sports or some form of physical recreation.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics study says 11.1 million people took part in a sports or other physical activity in a recent 12-month period.

Teenagers, aged between 15 and 17, had the highest participation rate at 79 per cent, reports News.com.au.

However, sports activity tended to decrease with age.
