LAKHANPUR - The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Ekta Yatra, led by Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, Tuesday entered Jammu and Kashmir from Punjab. Many of the activists courted arrest and were taken away in buses to an undisclosed destination.

Amritsar MP Navjot Singh Sidhu said that others among those who crossed the bridge were Ananth Kumar and Shanta Kumar. They removed the barricades and concertina wires on the bridge.

The bridge connects Madhopur to Lakhanpur, 90 km from Jammu.

Anurag Thakur, MP, is leading the march.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has not given permission for the Ekta Yatra, or the national unity march, that is to culminate in downtown Srinagar Wednesday with the unfurling of the national flag at the historic Lal Chowk.
