Jaipur literay festival begin

JAIPUR - Literature lovers from across the country are visiting the annual Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) that began here on Friday to meet and interact with renowned literary personalities of the world.

National and international writers, singers, envoys and students flocked the pink city to witness the five-day long festival that concludes on January 25.

Famous Bollywood personalities like Javed Akhtar and Gulzar were present during the inaugural session of the festival.

“The festival is getting bigger day by the day and renowned writers and thinkers come here from different parts of the country and abroad as well. I feel that this gives you new strength, perspective and ideas to thin and whoever comes here and listens to what is said he leaves a richer person than before, there is no doubt in it,” said Akhtar.

People from all walks of life could be seen at the numerous book stalls seeing and purchasing works of authors from around the world.

The JLF festival 2011 will host 226 writers, and speakers of considerable international fame in the likes of J.M. Coetzee, Martin Amis and Orhan Pamuk.

International writers from different countries including the United States of America, United Kingdom, Indonesia, Australia and China are attending the festival. (AN)
