India committed to making a democratic, stable Nepal: Nirupama Rao

KATHMANDU - Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao, who is presently on a three-day visit to Kathmandu, on Tuesday said that India is committed to working with them for a democratic and stable Nepal.
On her arrival at the airport here, Nirupama Rao said: “I would like to convey to the leadership in Nepal that India is committed to working with them for a democratic, stable, peaceful and prosperous Nepal.”
“I also look forward for my meeting with Dr. Madan P Bhattarai, Foreign Secretary of Nepal, where we would review our bilateral cooperation and discuss issues of mutual interest for expanding and strengthening our bilateral ties,” she added.
She further said that India is convinced of the significance and the great potential of India-Nepal relations.
“Relations with Nepal are and will continue to be a matter of the highest priority for India,” she added.
Rao held separate meetings with President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, caretaker Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and Constituent Assembly chairman Subas Nemwang.
On Wednesday, she will hold talks with top political leaders, including opposition Maoist chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda.
On Thursday, she will meet Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala.
During her meetings, she will discuss the entire gamut of bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest for expanding and strengthening ties between the two sides.
The visit of a high-level Indian official is significant as it comes just few days after the exit of the UN Mission in Nepal. (ANI)
