DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- North India is shivering under a deadly grip of cold and Delhi is also undergoing the same weather conditions. Tuesday the temperature in Delhi took a nosedive and the minimum temperature hovered below 4 degrees. The elderly lot and the kids are suffering the most and the met office has indicated that there is no respite from the biting chill. The IGI airport at the capital may adopt CAT-IIIAflight conditions if dense fog covers the city, which, according to the met office is a probability. The temperature in the last few days were on the lower side and a dry cold wind blowing over the city made the situation even tougher for the Delhiites.

The low temperature and fog has resulted in trains coming to and leaving from Delhi are running late for days and several long distance trains are running way to late for days at stretch. However, the IGI airport did not have to cancel any flight so far owing to the fog. The poor and street dwellers in the capital are facing the brunt more than others. The last fortnight saw more people succumbing to the cold spell than any other reasons. The cops have said that they are trying to take homeless people to the shelters meant for them in the capital. However, it is tough to give room to 150000 homeless people in 80 shelters say the cops.

To tackle the death owing to low temperature and cold in Delhi a number of NGOs are distributing warm clothes and blankets to thew homeless people. The winter is exceptionally harsh in the capital, as residents have observed.
