BANKURA - Residents of West Bengal’s Bankura district said Maoist activities in the region have reduced in the last year.

Bikas Mondal, the Panchayat head, Pingboni, said the business in the region has also picked up a good pace.

“In the last one year or so, the situation has changed a lot and improved also. Earlier, due to the lack of communication, poor transportation, business was totally down. But now business has improved,” said Mondal.

Manoranjan Ghosh, a villager, hopes that the New Year would bring peace in the region.

“We want peace and work peacefully for our business in the area,” said Ghosh. By Rik Sundar (ANI)
