JHARGAM - Maoists killed a railway worker and burnt a bulldozer near Nunnungeria village in West Bengal’s Jhargram district during the weekend.

Srikant Saren, a railway worker, had brought a bulldozer in the village to dig a pond.

The Maoists wanted unemployed villagers be given the task under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), instead of using machines for the purpose.

“At around 8.30 a.m., I heard some noise of firing and then I saw that machine burning,” said Dhanaram Hansda, a villager. By Rik Sundar Sasmal (ANI)
