WEST MIDNAPORE/ PURULIA - The paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and West Bengal police have seized a huge cache of arms and explosives from Maoist infested Jhargram area in West Midnapore District.

Two SVBL guns, one Bulgarian 8 mm pistol, a country made pistol and a large number of explosives were seized during the operation.

“The CRPF along with West Bengal Police carried out this operation last night which continued till this morning. We have arrested four Maoists and recovered these arms,” said Jhargram Sub Divisional Police Officer Rashid Malik Khan.

Meanwhile, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered a live bomb at a busy railway station in nearby Purulia district on Friday night.

The bomb that was planted by an unknown person, who vanished into the crowd, was defused on Saturday.

“When he (Maoist) figured out that he might be captured he left the bomb and escaped from the spot. As it was a busy hour with many trains and passengers at the platform we were not able to make out any suspect as such,” said RPF Security Commissioner N. Mishra. (ANI)
