LONDON - Meet honeymooners Mark and Denise Duffield-Thomas who said ‘I do’ 85 times, breaking the world record, in just six months!

As the winners of the ‘Ultimate Job in the World’ contest organised by ‘Runaway Bride and Groom’ company, the couple had been road testing the best locations for weddings and honeymoons and in the process renewed their vows 85 times, reports the Mirror.

“We’re the happiest couple in the world. Every day is a honeymoon,” said Denise, 31.

The trip has seen them renew their vows in exotic places like Mauritius, Indonesia, Thailand and Jordan.

Mark has worn the same suit 50 times and Denise has got through several dresses. And both have gained over a stone from wedding breakfasts.

They began on May 25 by marrying five times in 48 hours in New York - at the Waldorf Astoria hotel, the top of the Empire State Building, in a taxi and twice in Central Park.

They said the most romantic occasion was at a five-star resort in Zanzibar while the strangest was shivering in a room at minus 43C in Wexford, Ireland.

“It was so cold we could only spend three minutes in there wearing big coats. We had to kiss through face masks or our lips would have stuck together,” said Mark, 26.

Mark, from Cheshire, and Denise, from Australia, met as students in Manchester in July 2002. They married for the first time at Ufton Court, near Reading, Berks, in 2008.

They spotted the competition on the Internet last year and won against 30,000 other entrants.

They gave up their marketing jobs in London and started their new ‘career’.

Six months later, they have finished the last leg of their trip in Australia with an aboriginal ceremony in Queensland - adorned with face paint and cockatoo feathers.

Their 85th wedding won them a place in the Guinness World Records but, while they are going back to their day jobs for now, they are not totally against the idea of yet another wedding.

“We finished on 85, so that’s two more than the record, but you never know…” said Denise. (ANI)
