Children’s Day Celebrations At Mumbai

MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- This year the kids of Mumbai are going to have a blast on Children’s Day which is being celebrated today. A number of companies as well as state entities have come up with unique initiatives to make the kids happy on this special day. Governor K. Sankaranarayanan is slated to receive 250 school kids from Thane and Mumbai after the kids finish a skating rally. The event will take place at Raj Bhavan. An official from Raj Bhavan has revealed that the governor will receive the kids with roses and greet them on Children’s Day.

Jet Airways in collaboration with a number of NGOs have arranged for a free plane ride on Children’s Day which it calls ‘Flight of Fantasy’. The ride will enable 100 kids to take a flight on a Boeing 737. Vinod Gupta, the Maharashtra Economic Development Council’s vice president said that MEDC will arrange a boating regetta meant for 50 kids aged between 8 to 13 years. It will commence at the Gateway of India, he added. Some of the kids will be participating in the event for the first time while some are experienced. Trained sailors will accompany them to evade any mishap during the event.

The schools in Mumbai are closed for Diwali and some of them have decided to observe Children’s Day in their own special way. While initiatives like these are going to make the kids benefiting smile on this day, it needs to be remembered there are millions of poor and underprivileged kids all over India who go on suffering. On this day, governments and NGOs come up with initiatives to make a change to their lives.
