LAHORE - The Lahore Police have beefed up their security around important government and commercial buildings in the city following the gun and bomb attacks on the CID Police Headquarters in Karachi on Thursday night.

Police sources revealed that snap checking had been intensified at all entry and exit points of the Punjab capital, and that they had also been directed to carry out thorough searching of all vehicles, The Nation reported.

While the police patrolling is heightened in the city, senior police officers at the division level have been strictly directed to monitor security arrangements by conducting surprise visits in their respective areas.

According to a circular issued in this regard, plain-clothed policemen would be deployed around the leading commercial and key government installations to keep a check on any activity of miscreants.

Round-the-clock patrolling has been ordered around important buildings located in posh and sensitive areas. The police deployment around shopping malls and commercial centres has also been enhanced to avoid any untoward incident.

Official sources claimed that heavy contingents had been deployed around religious places and shrines as well in a bid to thwart any possible terror attack. (ANI)
