Report: NKorea seems to be moving on nuke weapons

WASHINGTON — A new report says North Korea may be moving ahead with a program to enrich uranium to make nuclear weapons.

The report by the Institute for Science and International Security says Pyongyang “has moved beyond laboratory-scale work” and is now capable of building a “pilot plant” of centrifuges to enrich uranium.

The assertion is based partly on information about related equipment purchases that North Korea has made from other nations.

The authors say the priority should be finding ways to either stop the program or to delay its progress through a combination of negotiations and sanctions.
