NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com)- United States first lady Michelle Obama has been named as the most powerful women all across the world by Forbes, the popular business magazine. The highly-acclaimed magazine released its annual list of ‘World’s Most Powerful Women’ on Wednesday with the first lady of United States topping the list. Registering the much-coveted number 1 slot in the list of the most powerful women of the world has added a new feather in the cap of Michelle Obama, who already has managed to win wide accolades for playing the role of U.S. first lady with much elan since her husband President Barack Obama took office.

While revealing the list of the ‘World’s Most Powerful Women,’ Forbes magazine has explained its decision of conferring the numero uno position to Michelle Obama by saying that the 46-year-old U.S. first lady has turned out to be a role model for the new generation of women. One of the other pertinent reason which supposedly contributed in Michelle Obama being named as the most powerful women across the world was owing to the fact that she has been successful in making the ‘office of first lady her own’ while gaining immense popularity among the masses.

Apart from Michelle Obama, the other prominent females who have found themselves in the World’s Most Powerful Women’ list are Kraft Foods CEO Irene Rosenfeld, who reserved the second slot followed by media mogul Oprah Winfrey in the third position. German Chancellor Angela Merkel was named the fourth most powerful women across the world while U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton grabbed the fifth position.
