DALLAS (GaeaTimes.com)- The students and teachers at the Dallas based Brookhaven College were alerted about a lockdown on Monday morning by the campus police and the announcement put them on tenterhooks. The police announced the lockdown after they received a report that a student of the college was trying to commit suicide in one of the bathrooms in the campus. The student had a gun with him as the cops were intimated. Brookhaven College was reopened later after the police searched the campus thoroughly but did not find the student. He was however found later close to his apartment but did not have any weapon with him, said the cops. A spokesperson for Dallas police Janice Crowther said that he was shifted to Parkland Memorial Hospital to check his stability and mental health.

The situation was tense at the Brookhaven College after Dallas police informed the campus police about the suicidal student. The students and the teachers were about to leave the morning classes when the fiasco took place. The girlfriend of that student has called up the cops saying that her boyfriend was going to commit suicide inside a campus bathroom and he had a weapon with him. The cops took prompt action after that.

The friends of that student at the Brookhaven College said that he did attend two classes on Monday morning but his behavior seemed different. The college authorities alerted the faculties and students about the lock-down using a newly developed message alert system. The incident comes close on the heels of a student shooting himself at the university of Texas.
