Hizbul Mujaheedin militant surrenders in Rajouri

RAJOURI - A Hizbul Mujahideen militant has surrendered before the army in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri District.

Taj Mohammed, 26, who joined the militant outfit a year ago, surrendered before the Rashtriya Rifles troops in the Thanamandi belt of Rajouri District along with an AK-47 assault rifle, one magazine and 30 rounds of bullets.

Hailing from Hubi Village in Kotranka, Taj said he received rigorous training in the handling and firing of weapons.

A Rashtriya Rifles officer said the their aim was to bring such misguided youth back into society.

“There are a few people who are provoked by militants and then join the outfit. We are trying to bring them back to the society, so that they can live life with their families,” said K. J. S. Gill, Commander, 13 Sector, Romeo Force. (ANI)
