Mumbai Gets Its First Cath Lab

MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The city of Mumbai got its very first specialized catheterization laboratory at the Holy Family Hospital which is located in Bandra. The cath lab as well as an operating center in the medical facility was unveiled on Sunday by none other than star batsman Sachin Tendulkar which ensured that the event would get enough media attention. The new cath lab in Mumbai would give its residents the opportunity of undergoing a cardiac surgery immediately if the angiography highlights anything that can be considered to be life-threatening.

While inaugurating the event at the medical facility in Mumbai, Sachin Tendulkar pointed out that with the specialized facility in the hospital, we have been blessed with the chance to play a role in serving the society. At the same time, the star cricketer also went on to say that as he is married to a doctor, he is well aware of the hard work as well as the sacrifices that this noble profession calls for. The newly-inaugurated cath lab is surely a significant milestone for the medical industry of the city as Mumbai became the first city to have the facility after New Delhi.

In the inauguration event, Dr Brian Pinto who is the head of the Department of Cardiology in the hospital added that the first cath lab of Mumbai would make real-time diagnosis, open surgery as well as interventional procedures possible in the medical facility. At the same time, the cardiologist also revealed that a variety of hybrid combination procedures can be easily performed in the new cath lab.
