NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- It is quite well known that Maruti Suzuki launched a new variant of its best selling compact car Alto in the Indian market. The Alto had been the numero uno player in its segment for the last few years and it contributes to the success of the company in the Indian market in a major way. However, it would be wrong to think that the company has just released the same car with some cosmetic makeover. The Alto K10 is a far superior car compared to the earlier Alto in terms of power, design and comfort. The new car comes with a 998 CC K series engine that is used in Wagon R and Estilo. It is far more powerful than the 800 cc engine of the older Alto. However, Maruti is not phasing out the older model anytime soon.

The new Alto K 10 has new sleek looking headlamps that add to its oomph value. The front grille has also been changed and the bonnet is a tad longer to make room for the revolutionary K series engine. The new car is heavier than the earlier one by just 50 kgs. There are trendy fog lamps as well. It is also said to be more fuel efficient tan the earlier model. The interior of the car has also been seriously revamped. The company has decided to redesign the entry level car since a lot of other carmakers have come up with their compact models in recent times.

The Alto K 10 however may face stiff competition from the new Hyundai i10. Hyundai may launch a trimmed down version of i10 with a lower powered engine.
