Additional reinforcements sent to Naxal-hit Dantewada

BASTAR - Additional reinforcements have been sent to Naxal-hit Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh where an encounter between the police and Naxals has taken place.

Today, the incident occurred in the jungle near Gumiapal that falls under the Kirandool police station area.

Informing about the latest news from the place of incident, Inspector General of Police Bastar Division, T.J.Langkumer, has said that since the police parties have not yet returned from the site of the incident, nothing specific can be said at present.

“Due to heavy rains in the area, it is not being possible to establish communication links with the police personnel at the site,” he informed on Wednesday evening.

Around 60 Maoists attacked security personnel, comprising of state police and Special Task Force (STF) personnel on Wednesday morning.

Heavy rain obstructed the arrival of reinforcements in morning. (ANI)
