SAIC to buy baggage screener Reveal Imaging

McLEAN, Va. — Government contractor Science Applications International Corp. said Monday it has agreed to buy Reveal Imaging Technologies Inc., a company that makes equipment for screening baggage at airports.

SAIC did not say how much it is paying for Reveal Imaging, a privately held company based in Bedford, Mass.

SAIC said Reveal Imaging was founded in 2002 in response to heightened security needs following the Sept. 11 attacks. Its equipment has been certified by the Transportation Security Administration to help detect explosive materials in bags, the company said.

SAIC shares rose 6 cents to $16.69 in morning trading.
