Top HM militant killed in Sopore encounter

SOPORE - A top Harkat-ul-Mujahideen militant was among two ultras killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore town on Wednesday.

According to sources, the encounter started on Tuesday in Haigham, 50 kms from Srinagar.

The slain self-styled divisional commander was identified as Nouman. He was active in Kashmir for the last six years and operated out of Lolab.

Nauman was believed to have sent two fidayeens (suicide attackers) to Lal Chowk on January 7. (ANI)
