WISCONSIN (GaeaTimes.com)- Skygazers in the state ofWisconsin were in for a huge treat on Wednesday night when a spectacular meteor dazzled the night sky in the parts of the region. The report that a meteor was spotted in the Wisconsin sky was also confirmed by the National Weather Service which validated that the spectacle was visible in parts of the state as well as across five other states.

It has come to light that the first streak of the meteor was seen around 10:15 on Wednesday night, reportedly in the southern part ofWisconsin. Soon after the magnificent sight was visible, the National Weather Service started receiving calls from residents in the region who reported that they had seen a ball of fire in the sky. Apart from informing the agency, the residents also notified the incident to various television stations as well as the Sheriff’s department in northeast Wisconsin, updating them about the meteor shower.

While shedding light into Wednesday’s event, James Lattis, University of Wisconsin Space Place Director said that themeteor shower is quite a frequent event but most of the meteor shower do not turn out to be as dramatic as witnessed last night. James Lattis further elaborated that the spectacle that was witnessed on Wednesday night might be a ’sporadic meteor‘ which was not actually part of a comprehensive meteor shower. Meanwhile, the National Weather Service revealed that last night’s fireball might be associated with the Gamma Virginids meteor shower, which commenced on April 4 and is likely to remain active till April 21. However, the speculations have not been confirmed as yet.
