Travel Weekly readers say Hawaii is best state destination; Maui also honored

Magazine says Hawaii is best state destination

HONOLULU — The Hawaii Tourism Authority has announced Hawaii has been chosen by Travel Weekly as the winner in the Best U.S. State Destination category for its seventh annual Readers Choice Awards.

HTA President and Chief Executive Mike McCartney said Tuesday that the award is special because it was voted on by Travel Weekly readers themselves.

Travel Weekly reaches more than 180,000 readers, a group comprised of travel professionals.

The agency says Maui was recognized within the Hawaii category as Best Destination.
